Global AI Challenge for Building E&M Facilities 2025

Back Button Back to Successful Cases

The Chief Executive’s 2025 Policy Address designates artificial intelligence (AI) as a core industry, reflecting the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s commitment to advancing AI development to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness and expedite smart city development. AI technology is revolutionising the building E&M industry, changing traditional engineering management models and driving industry upgrades and transformation.  Following the success of 2022, the EMSD once again partnered with the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology (GAST) to host the Global AI Challenge for Building E&M Facilities 2025 (the Challenge), which created a cross-regional and cross-disciplinary platform for innovation exchange through diverse activities.

Held from June to August 2025, the Challenge featured two competition categories: “Build Your AI Model” and “Innovative Proposal for Construction and Engineering”. It attracted over 200 top teams from 26 countries and regions, with a record-breaking scale. Following two consecutive days of professional judging process, the Challenge culminated in the Building and Construction AI Conference and Awards Ceremony at the Hong Kong Science Park on 8 August, with the aim of nurturing the next generation of AI talent in the building E&M sector, and promoting the application of building E&M AI technologies in the industry.

A gathering of elites, the ceremony brought together exceptional contestants and award-winning teams from around the world to exchange innovative insights.

The theme of the Building and Construction AI Conference was “Transforming Construction with AI - Paving the Way for Smart Cities”.
